Gana bronce panamericano la veracruzana Bárbara Méndez

Fernando Hernández/Xalapa. La taekwondoín veracruzana Bárbara Regina Méndez de la Sancha ganó la medalla de bronce en la división menor a 42 kilogramos de la categoría Cadete-Júnior, dentro del Campeonato Panamericano de la especialidad en Costa Rica.

La alumna de Olympic Center Boca forma parte de la Selección Mexicana de la categoría, tras vencer a su rival de El Salvador, triunfo que le permitió meterse a las semifinales del torneo y a la lucha por las preseas.

En esa instancia empató ante la competidora de los Estados Unidos, pero en una decisión polémica por parte de los jueces, la decisión no favoreció a la jarocha.

“En la competencia me sentí muy bien, muy segura, a gusto con las patadas que hacía y por cómo resolvía el combate. Los nervios de la primera pelea estuvieron, pero supe controlarlos bien, respondiendo rápido.

“Me sentí bien con las técnicas que hacía con mi cuerpo, mis puntos entraban muy bien, creo me desempeñe bastante bien en toda la competencia”, señaló la deportista.

Méndez de la Sancha reconoció que debe seguir entrenando rumbo a sus próximos compromisos.
