Fernando Hernández/El Demócrata. El lanzador veracruzano Omar Sánchez firmó con los Ángels de Los Ángeles y se convirtió en el primer veracruzano en la nueva era de El Águila de Veracruz en ser firmado por una organización ligamayorista.

En el momento en que el joven estampó su firma estuvo presente el presidente del equipo jarocho, Bernardo Pasquel, y el lanzador acompañado de su familia.

Omar Sánchez es un joven serpentinero de 19 años, originario de Córdoba, Veracruz; fue detectado por la dirección deportiva de El Águila en un juego de la Liga Veracruzana en Cuitláhuac, por cual se procedió a solicitarle a los Sultanes de Monterrey al joven para debutarlo este año con el equipo emplumado.

Ya como jugador de El Águila, el scout en México de Los Ángeles, Cosme Valle, evaluó el talento del joven veracruzano en un show case que se realizó en la comunidad La Mixtequilla, en el municipio de Ignacio de La Llave.

El visor lleva un tiempo dándole seguimiento a los prospectos del conjunto veracruzano, desde la participación del equipo en la Liga Invernal Mexicana y también con los jóvenes que están en el campamento en el estadio «Beto Ávila».

Con la firma de Omar Sánchez, El Águila Veracruz reiteró su compromiso por detectar, desarrollar y apoyar el talento estatal no solo para el equipo de Liga Mexicana, sino también para el mejor beisbol del mundo.
